William Pscheidt about the motivation to perform inspections ENplus®

Inspections are perhaps one of the most important elements of the ENplus® certification. To tell us more about it, we have the pleasure of talking to William Pscheidt, who works for the certification body Enama Servizi Srl.

Hello William, tell us about your experience as an inspector and share a few words about the certification body Enama Servizi Srl that you work for?

Working as an inspector certified by the European Pellet Council on behalf of ENAMA Servizi Srl has allowed me to improve my experience in the pellet production and certification sector, both in Brazil and internationally. ENAMA Servizi is a leading certification body, accredited by Accredia and recognised by the European Pellet Council, with a consolidated experience in pellet quality certification. Thanks to this experience, I have had the opportunity to work with companies operating in highly regulated and competitive markets, particularly the European one.

ENAMA Servizi is the main pellet certification body in Brazil and plays a fundamental role in ensuring that local producers comply with the highest quality standards. Working with such a prestigious organisation allows me to develop a global vision of the sector, being able to compare different production realities and to actively contribute to improving the quality of pellets destined for the most demanding markets.

Why did you decide to perform inspections for ENplus®?

The ENplus® certification is now the international benchmark for pellet quality and is an essential element for accessing the most important markets, especially the European one. Being an ENplus® inspector means directly contributing to the valorisation of pellet production by ensuring that companies comply with rigorous standards in terms of product quality, supply chain traceability and environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, collaborating with ENAMA on inspections gives me the opportunity to work on a global scale, and to acquire transversal skills in the different production technologies and quality control methods. This role allows me to interact with leading producers and stakeholders, helping companies to understand the importance of certification and continuously to improve their production processes.

In your opinion, why pellet quality is important? Why should pellet businesses adhere to it and why should pellet consumers care about it?

Pellet quality is a determining factor in both energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. The ENplus® certified pellets guarantee high performance, low emissions, improved combustion and prevention of technical problems in heating systems. This translates into a lower environmental impact and greater safety for consumers.

For companies, adhering to the ENplus® certification is not just a market requirement, but a strategic opportunity to differentiate themselves and access premium markets. Consumers, who are increasingly concerned about quality and sustainability, choose certified products to be sure they are purchasing controlled, traced pellets that meet the highest standards. Certification therefore adds value for both the producer and the end user.

Is there any useful advice you would like to give to the certified companies, so that they are better prepared for an inspection?

A company that is well prepared for an ENplus® inspection is one that is fully aware of its production processes and the certification requirements. The first piece of advice is to implement an effective quality control system, with regular monitoring of the raw materials, production stages and the finished product. Compliance with the technical parameters established by the certification must be guaranteed continuously, not only during the inspection.

Furthermore, it is also essential to maintain clear and up-to-date documentation, so that compliance with ENplus® requirements can be demonstrated at any time. Traceability is another key aspect: each batch of pellets must be identifiable and linked to specific production stages. Finally, a quality-focused corporate culture and staff training help to reduce the risk of non-compliance and improve operational efficiency, turning certification into a real competitive advantage.
