More Than A Decade With Us: Pelet Grupa d.o.o.
ENplus® is a scheme that has been adopted by many companies over the years. With our campaign, ‘More Than A Decade With Us’, we celebrate all those pellet producers and traders who became certified over 10 years ago and have remained loyal to the scheme, delivering many tonnes of high-quality pellets ever since. Today, we are excited to share the story of Pelet Grupa d.o.o.
Founded on 20 November 2007, Pelet Grupa d.o.o. emerged with a clear and forward looking mission: to develop and construct renewable energy source (RES) facilities. From the outset, the company focused on harnessing the potential of forest biomass to produce electricity and high quality wood pellets—an energy solution aligned with Europe’s transition toward low carbon, sustainable heating and power.
Strategic Beginnings and Site Development
Following extensive analyses of Croatia’s renewable energy potential, Pelet Grupa made a strategic decision to invest in biomass based electricity generation and pellet production. The next step was identifying a location capable of supporting long term, high volume operations. The site needed to be close to reliable raw material sources—both in quantity and quality—while ensuring transport distances remained within a 50 kilometre radius to maintain efficiency and sustainability.
In April 2008, the company secured an ideal location in the suburban area of Novska (Bročice). This site became home to an integrated renewable energy complex featuring a 1 MW biomass cogeneration plant, a wood pellet production facility with a capacity of approximately 6 t/h, later on adding a wood briquette production line and a 2 MW photovoltaic power station.
This combination of technologies positioned Pelet Grupa as one of Croatia’s most advanced and diversified biomass energy producers.
Integrated Production and Sustainable Biomass Solutions
Pelet Grupa specializes in the production of premium wood pellets (ENplus A1/ ENplus A2 quality) and wood briquettes, serving both household heating needs and industrial biomass markets. The company’s vertically integrated model—combining cogeneration, solar energy, and biomass processing—maximizes energy efficiency and minimizes waste.
Sustainability is central to the company’s operations. Pelet Grupa sources raw materials responsibly, primarily from wood residues, ensuring that biomass is used efficiently and in line with environmental best practices. Rigorous quality control ensures that all products meet international standards for calorific value, ash content, and combustion performance.
Market Presence and Logistics Advantage
With a workforce of approximately 44–47 employees, Pelet Grupa operates as a dynamic mid sized enterprise with strong international orientation. The company exports a significant share of its production to European distributors—particularly in Italy, where its pellets are sold through well known retail chains. At the same time, it maintains a solid presence in the Croatian market, supplying both private consumers and major retailers.
Its strategic location near major transportation routes—highway and rail connections in Novska—provides a competitive logistics advantage, enabling efficient distribution to key regional and EU markets.
Commitment to Quality: ENplus® Certification
Pelet Grupa’s dedication to excellence is further demonstrated through its pursuit of ENplus® certification, the globally recognised standard for high quality wood pellets. The company initially sought certification to strengthen customer trust and gain access to markets where ENplus® is a prerequisite.
Maintaining certification has proven equally valuable. The ENplus® scheme has helped Pelet Grupa to standardise production processes, enhance internal quality controls, reduce risks related to product consistency and improve transparency across the supply chain.
This commitment to continuous improvement has reinforced the company’s credibility and supported long term partnerships, contributing significantly to its growth and reputation.
