Founded in 2002 in Rio Negrinho, Santa Catarina, the company’s early focus was on producing wooden mouldings for the North American market. However, technological curiosity, responsible sourcing, and a drive to anticipate global trends — soon led Koala Energy toward a new path.
A pioneer in Brazil’s pellet industry
By 2005, Koala Energy had already identified the growing international demand for renewable fuels and made the strategic decision to invest in wood pellet production. At a time when the Brazilian market was still in its early stages of development, the company positioned itself among the country’s first pellet producers and quickly oriented its operations toward export. This early move proved decisive: Koala Energy became the second company in Brazil to obtain ENplus®certification, marking the beginning of a long-standing relationship with the scheme.
Over the years, Koala Energy has grown into one of Brazil’s largest exporters of ENplus®A1 certified pellets. A defining moment came in 2021, when the company carried out the first national shipment of certified pellets in bulk — a complex operation that required rigorous quality control from storage to maritime transport. Successfully completing this milestone demonstrated Koala Energy’s ability to maintain ENplus® standards even under demanding logistical conditions and strengthened confidence in Brazil’s capacity to supply high-quality biomass to global markets.
A fully integrated and modern operation
Today, Koala Energy operates a 50,000 m² industrial facility dedicated to pellet production, storage, and logistics. Its location in Santa Catarina offers strategic access to highways and ports, ensuring efficient raw material supply and reliable distribution to domestic and international clients. The manufacturing process is fully automated and equipped with internationally recognized machinery, allowing the company to maintain high efficiency and strict quality control.
All pellets are produced from FSC® certified wood, ensuring responsible forest management and full traceability — a core value for Koala Energy since its foundation. Alongside pellet production, the company has also become a reference in pellet-based heating equipment, supplying heat exchangers and renewable thermal energy solutions to industries, hospitality businesses, clubs, and other sectors across Brazil.
