European Pellet Forum 2026: The European Pellet Industry Meets in Italy for the First Time
For the first time in its history, the European Pellet Forum is coming to Italy, choosing Verona as the venue for a landmark event encompassing the entire European pellet supply chain. Organized by the Italian Agroforestry Energy Association (AIEL) in cooperation with the European Pellet Council & Bioenergy Europe, the Forum will bring together the leading players in the sector for an in-depth exchange on markets, supply chains, European policies, and technological innovation.
EPF 2026 will take place on Friday, 27 February 2026, from 9:00am to 1:00pm, as part of Progetto Fuoco 2026, the world’s leading trade fair dedicated to heating and energy production from woody biomass. It brings to Italy fuel producers & distributors, technology manufacturers, energy & heating operators, as well as institutions and trade associations.
The aim of the Forum is to provide an up-to-date and shared overview of the major transformations currently shaping the sector: from the evolution of European and national markets to future development prospects. Attention will be given to global supply chain dynamics and the availability of raw materials with a particular focus on the role of non-European exporting countries—such as Brazil—and on the state of European sawmill & sawdust markets.
Discussions will cover topics such as the use of alternative raw materials, the alignment between supply & consumer expectations as well as the role of quality & sustainability certification schemes, assessing their real added value while also considering the risks of greenwashing.
The final session will be dedicated to the pellet appliance sector, offering an update on the European and Italian markets for stoves & boilers, along with a reflection on the future role of pellet heating within the broader context of the energy transition. To conclude the event, a roundtable discussion involving producers, suppliers, other operators and technology sector players will provide a direct exchange on operational challenges and emerging development trends across the sector.
“We wanted to bring the European Pellet Forum to Italy for the first time,” says Domenico Brugnoni, President of AIEL. “Held alongside a key event for the entire sector such as Progetto Fuoco, this choice allows us to highlight our country’s contribution and give a voice to a supply chain that is strategic for Europe’s energy future. For years, AIEL has been committed to promoting quality, innovation, and market transparency – topics that will be at the heart of the Forum’s discussions.”
