More Than a Decade with Us: Warmeston OÜ
The next company we will tell you more about as part of our campaign “More Than a Decade with Us” is based in Estonia and is a holder of not one but three ENplus IDs: EE 002, EE 007 and EE 009. It is a pleasure to share with you the story of Warmeston OÜ.
The company was established in 2003 but their first pellet factory in Sauga began operation in 2010. In the following three years, factories were also opened in Sõmeru (Ardor), Järvere and Purila.
Today, Warmeston Group operates five pellet production facilities: four of these are located across Estonia and one – their newest acquisition – in the western region of Latvia. The company has 123 employees and an annual production for 2023 of 562 467 tonnes of wood pellets. Warmeston’s clients are Power and CHP plants, private customers and commercial entities using pellet boilers.
The company acknowledges its role in the global energy transition, as pellet quality and sustainability have always played an important role for them. Warmeston was among the first companies in Estonia to become ENplus® and SBP (Sustainable Biomass Program) certified.
In 2020, they started carrying out annual carbon footprint assessments which enable them to measure and transparently report the climate impact associated with their pellets. More information is available in their 2023 sustainability report.
Warmeston OÜ is a leading producer of wood pellets in Europe. Their premium A-pellet brand, whose pellets are certified with ENplus® A1 quality class, has become known for its reliability and quality.
The company management shares with us that back in the day Warmeston applied for ENplus® certification to strengthen its position in the international market and reaffirm its commitment to pellet quality. The main motivation for obtaining the certificate was better marketing opportunities in foreign markets, accompanied by the credibility and widespread recognition of the ENplus® certification. As a result, for many years they have been exporting to Italy until recently when their strategy changed.
“Although we are now focused on the domestic market, where customers are quality-conscious but do not necessarily ask for ENplus® certification, our decision to remain ENplus® certified has been strategic – it confirms our commitment to pellet quality and maintains better negotiation opportunities. The pellet market is dynamic, and for premium pellet exports, ENplus® certification is often a prerequisite.”, the company management clarify.
“Our customers’ feedback shows that they appreciate our commitment to quality and transparency. We are proud of our achievements and continue to strive to offer the best wood pellets on the market. The ENplus® certification system is an excellent tool for demonstrating this commitment.”
