More Than A Decade With Us: Pellet Energy Sp. z o.o
The Polish wood pellet producer Pellet Energy Sp. z o. o has been certified for more than a decade now. Today, we have the pleasure of telling its story through the words of Wioletta Wojtkiewicz, the company’s quality manager.
When was Pellet Energy Sp. z o.o founded and where? Did it start directly with producing pellets or other products?
Pellet Energy was founded in 2011 in Błaszki, in central Poland. The company was established as a producer of eco-friendly fuel – wood pellets. We started with a small-scale production and from the very beginning, we focused on quality. Our ambition was to produce pellets of the highest quality. We quickly set up and equipped an in-house laboratory to monitor our production. We focused on producing pellets primarily for small boilers intended for domestic use.
Where do we find the company today? What can you tell us about your production and clients?
Pellet Energy is now a well-established producer in the wood pellet market. Our production volume is many times greater than what it was in the beginning. We produce pellets primarily for the Polish market, for individual customers, intended for domestic use.
Our GOLD pellets are a well-recognised brand on the market. We have always prioritised quality. Every day, systematically and several times a day, we carry out tests on the pellets – moisture content, mechanical strength, bulk density, and fine particle content. We also test the ash and calorific value of our pellets, which, as we know, is rare among pellet producers. We also monitor and test the supply of raw materials for production. Our comprehensive quality control and the volume of tests carried out by our laboratory give us the confidence that the pellets we bring to market are truly of the highest quality. This is our competitive advantage.
Our customers value our pellets for their consistent quality. We have many customers who have been buying pellets exclusively from our company for years.
Currently, our company is undoubtedly the quality leader in the wood pellet market in Poland. For the fifth time in a row, we have been awarded the title of Consumer Quality Leader in independent consumer surveys in the ‘Pellets – Fuel’ category.
How big is the team of Pellet Energy?
Pelle Energy currently employs around 50 people. Ten of the staff have been with the company since it was founded.
Why did you decide to become ENplus® certified more than 10 years ago?
We have held the ENplus® certificate since July 2015. A few years ago, wood pellets were not as popular a fuel in Poland as they are today, which is why we wanted to sell our pellets to other countries, mainly Italy; hence our interest in certification. Holding the certificate opened up access to the European market.
The ENplus® certification scheme seemed to us to be the most suitable solution, as it was a pan-European system. As it turned out, it was a very good choice. At present, ENplus® is the best-known wood pellet certification scheme not only in Europe, but also worldwide.
