Record Year for ENplus® as Certified Pellet Production Exceeds 14.5 million tonnes in 2025
After a year of stabilisation, the ENplus® certification scheme has confirmed a renewed growth in certified volumes, reaching over 14.5 million tonnes of wood pellets in 2025, based on the data submitted by certified companies. As part of this, UK production in 2025 exceeded a record 300,000 tonnes for the fourth year in a row which represents a 60% increase in our domestic capability since the establishment of the ENplus® scheme in the UK in 2013.
ENplus® remains the world-leading certification scheme for wood pellet quality, ensuring high standards across the entire supply chain and supporting the development of a transparent and reliable market. Germany continues to be the leading country with around 3.95 million tonnes of ENplus® certified pellets produced in 2025. Austria follows with 1.89 million tonnes, while France ranks third with more than 1.08 million tonnes. The Top 5 also includes Poland and Spain, both maintaining strong production levels and reinforcing Europe’s central role in certified pellet production.
“This trend confirms the resilience of the pellet market and the continued demand for high-quality certified products.”, comments Elena Dumitru, Certification Director.
Poland is the country with the most ENplus® certified pellet producers, while Germany retains its position as the leader in certified pellet traders. Despite much lower volumes than many countries, there are 61 ENplus® certified companies in the UK which puts up in sixth place in the world table.
The ENplus® fraud management team has further strengthened the scheme’s blacklist database by identifying fraudulent entities alongside misleading websites and contact details that users should avoid. To date, ENplus® has successfully detected and resolved a total of 1,470 fraud cases – an achievement that underlines the scheme’s ongoing commitment to preserving its integrity and protecting its users.
In the past year, ENplus® marked its 15th anniversary through a series of activities and events. The scheme management also published the second editions of the standards related to the requirements for companies and the usage of the trademarks. This represents a further step in the ongoing development of the ENplus® certification scheme and reinforces its key role in the pellet market.
